Dr. Kenneth Frederick Dutt

January 21, 1929 - January 10, 2017

Dr. Kenneth Dutt of Hendersonville, North Carolina, formerly of Orlando, Florida, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the age of 87 after an extended battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Born in Marion, Ohio on January 21, 1929, to Fred and Mildred Dutt, Kenneth is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Esther Louise Sagorske Dutt, and daughters Diane Knight (Jay), Tamela Mathews (Stuart), and Jane Miller (Glenn) of Orlando, Florida, stepchildren, David Terway (Antoinette) of Lakeland, Florida, Sharon Buchanan (Lloyd) of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Michael Terway of Dushore, Pennsylvania, and by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Kenneth was the eldest of his surviving siblings, Janet Kinley (Neil) of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Wilfred Dutt (Patty) of Kirkland, Washington, Herbert V. Dutt (Helen) of Greer, South Carolina, Ron Dutt of Carlsbad, California, and Sue Truitt (Dave) of Landrum, South Carolina.

After graduating from Harding High School, he attended The Ohio State University, then joined the U.S. Navy as a pilot for 4 years on active duty, followed by 7 years in the Naval Reserves. Kenneth received the National Defense Service Medal as a Naval Aviator.

In 1961, Kenneth received his Doctorate of Medicine from The Ohio State University Medical School and did internship and residency at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Dutt was a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice. He had a successful family practice and served for a time as Chief of Family Practice at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Dutt retired in 1992 from his Dutt Family Practice in Orlando and later moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina, in 2012. He was a Member of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Family Practice, Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Orange County Medical Society, Southern Medical Association, and an Affiliate of O.F.S. Secular Franciscan Order from 1984.

A lifelong Christian, Dr. Dutt joined the Catholic Church at St. James Cathedral in Orlando, Florida, in 2003 and in 2012 became a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hendersonville, North Carolina, where he sang in the choir. He previously sang in the Cathedral Choir in Orlando that performed several concert tours in Europe and the United States. Ken enjoyed playing the organ. In addition to classical music he enjoyed playing gospel and theater music. Ken also enjoyed flying airplanes, attending organ concerts, visits from his children and grandchildren, and spending time with his beloved wife Esther, to whom he was completely devoted. He had a delightful sense of humor and he was the kindest, most gentle, and honorable, loving man. He loved Our Lord Jesus Christ and used the Gospel as his guide for life.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 2:45 pm at Immaculate Conception Church, Hendersonville, North Carolina. Ken will be laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery, Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Ken was a member of the marching band during the 1947, 1948, and 1950 seasons. He played baritone.
