Robert G. Johnson

December 21, 1933 - April 14, 2003

Robert G. Johnson age 69, of Kettering, passed away Monday April 14, 2003.

Mr. Johnson was formerly a teacher at Mad River Township and Dayton Public Schools. He was a member of Sertoma, Windjammers, Letter Carriers Band, Centerville Community Band, the OSU Alumni Band, and the Dayton Music Club.

He is survived by a daughter, Melanie Johnson and her husband Larry Marra of Kettering; two sons, Mark and wife Jan of Columbus, Gregg and wife Tracie of Bellbrook; a sister, Judy Johnson of Detroit; three grandchildren, Gabe, Ben and Eddie George Johnson; step-mother, Etta Johnson of Michigan; and a very dear friend, Gladys Whitmer.

The family will receive friends at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road in Kettering, on Monday from 10:00am until noon. Private Services to follow. Burial Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to The OSU Script Ohio Scholarship Fund. Envelopes available at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 10, 2003 at 11:00 am at The Christ United Methodist Church on Shroyer Road.

Robert played Efer and Trumpet as a member of the marching band in 1950 through 1955. He was an active supporter of the alumni band and was the recipient of the 1995 Elvin Donaldson Most Inspirational Alumni Bandmember award.
