Paul Edwin Magnusson, of Des Plaines, beloved husband of Stacey, nee Walgreen; loving father of Michael (Anna) Magnusson and Laura (Matthew) Ballok; cherished brother of Nancy Hinners; dear son-in-law of Stan and Donna Walgreen; fond uncle of Catherine, Gregory (Patty) Hinners; great-uncle of Samantha, Thomas, and Matthew Hinners.

Visitation for Mr. Paul Edwin Magnusson, 60, will be from 2 pm until the time of the services at 4 pm Sunday, March 19, at Christian Life Church, 400 East Gregory St., Mount Prospect, IL 60056. Interment will be private.

Born July 6, 1945, in East Cleveland, Ohio, he died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at home. Mr. Magnusson was a retired band/choral director from Maine West High School. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of music, and from Northwestern University with a masters degree in music.

He was a member of Christian Life Church, the Optimists Club of Des Plaines, the Camerata Singers of Lake Forest, the Des Plaines Theater Preservation Society, the Kings & Queens Bowling League, TBDBITL Alumni (The Ohio State University Marching Band Alumni) and Emanuel Congregation Quartet, and a former member of The Ohio State University Marching Band.

Survivors include his wife, Stacey (nee Walgreen); children, Michael (Anna) Magnusson and Laura (Matthew) Ballok; his in-laws, Stan and Donna Walgreen; sister, Nancy Hinners; niece and nephew, Catherine Hinners and Gregory (Patty) Hinners; and great-niece and great-nephews, Samantha, Thomas and Matthew Hinners.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christian Life Church Ministries, Maine West High School Fine Arts Scholarship, 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018 or Emanuel Congregation, Torah Writing Project, 5959 N. Sheridan Road, Chicago, IL 60660. Arrangements were made by the Oehler Funeral Home Des Plaines Chapel, 847-824-5155.

Paul was a member of the marching band from 1963 through 1968. A six-year member of A row, he played solo trumpet.
