Richard Lee Morrison

Richard L. Morrison Age 78, passed away peacefully Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Hospice of Dayton. Richard was born in Massilon, Ohio to the late Clem and Lucille (Taft) Morrison. He was a United States Army veteran. He attended the Ohio State University where he marched in the band for four years. Richard went on to receive his Bachelors degree of Arts from Youngstown University and obtained his Masters degree from Vandercook College of Music. Richard was a music teacher for Centerville City Schools.

A member of the Church of the Cross and sang in the Chancel Choir for 24 years. Richard played the tuba for several bands including the Kettering Banjo Society for over 30 years. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals.

He is preceded in death by his brother Kenny Morrison and sister Alice Jean Mueller. Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Morrison, their sons: Joseph (Chris) Morrison, and Michael (Megan) Morrison, grandchildren: Tyler; Spencer and Zachary Morrison, brother's Robert and Donald Morrison. Funeral service will be held 7:30 PM Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Church of the Cross United Methodist Church 3121 Wilmington Pike Kettering, OH 45429. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Church of the Cross on "memo line" add David's House, in Richard's memory.

Richard was a member of the marching band in 1954 through 1957. He played sousaphone.
