Gary Owen Partlow

Gary Owen Partlow, age 74, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at home. Born in Wilmington, Ohio to the late Franklin and Ruby Partlow, he was a graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1958 where he served as class president.

Gary graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of the OSU Marching Band from 1958-63. A squad leader, Gary played coronet and trumpet in C-Row. In 1963, he was voted Most Inspirational Band Member.

A gifted musician, Gary later played in the Worthington Community Band and was a founding member of the Scioto Valley Brass and Percussion Company.

He received his Masters of Theology degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1969.

In 1989, Gary retired from the Ohio Army National Guard with the rank of Lt. Colonel, completing a 25+ year career with the Guard. He served at various armories around Ohio.

Raised to the degree of Master Mason in 1965, Gary was a Past Master (1971) of Wilmington Lodge #52, F&AM, was a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite-Valley of Cincinnati and was a member of Aladdin Temple Shrin e. After his retirement, Gary developed a love of thoroughbred horses and managed the family racing stables.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Chris Partlow and his devoted son, Sam Partlow, of the residence; his sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Michael Stoughton of Raleigh, NC; his sisters-in-law, Kathy (Karl) Snider of Flagstaff, AZ and Paris (Shawn) Parsons of Evans, GA, and their families; and his many friends.

Family will receive friends from 2-5 pm Sunday with Masonic Service at 4:30 pm Sunday and from 2-5 pm Monday at the Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio 43065, (614)-792-1471. Funeral Service will be held 5 pm Monday, June 1, 2015 at the Funeral Home. Private family burial will be observed.
