Gary Lee Beeler
December 14, 1940 - March 14, 2021
Gary L. Beeler, 80, passed away peacefully at 11:13 pm on Sunday, March 14, 2021. He was the loving son of William and Isabel Beeler of Lima, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Karen (Rhoades) Beeler, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; sister Kay (Mike) Ullman, Westerville, Ohio; his two daughters: Heather DuBose, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and Lynn (Jim) Mauck, Alpharetta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Kyle, and Grace; two step-grandchildren, Jessica and Megan; four nephews, and one niece.
Gary attended Lima Senior High School in Lima, Ohio. In 1964, he graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree in chemical engineering from The Ohio State University and was a proud Buckeye all his life. During his college years, he sang in the Men's Glee Club (he had a beautiful voice) and played in The Ohio State Marching Band - TBDBITL! He and Karen were married soon after their graduations, and moved to Houston, Texas, where he accepted a job with Dupont. He then spent his 35-year career with Dupont in the Agricultural Chemical division in many roles that allowed him to travel around the world, something he really enjoyed. After living in Wilmington, Delaware for 18 years, he retired from Dupont in Mobile, Alabama as Plant Manager. Gary, like his father, never met a stranger and was always interested in the experiences and lives of those he encountered. As a result, he had many good friends far and wide. During retirement, he continued to do all the things he enjoyed such as playing tennis, riding his bike, skiing in the US and abroad, fishing, scuba diving, reading, attending church, singing in the choir, attending classical music concerts, and spending time with his family and friends. His most favorite thing was spending summers in Bethany Beach, Delaware, with Karen.
To his family, Gary was larger than life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, loyal and devoted to family and friends. If he gave you his perspective, you could always depend on him to tell you the truth. He was blessed with a long, wonderful life for which we are profoundly grateful.
