Floyd Allen Culver

Floyd A. Culver, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 surrounded by his family at his residence in Defiance, Ohio.
He was born on April 13, 1941 to Floyd R. and Dorothy (Schwilk) Culver in Bucyrus. On August 14, 1965 he married Ann Schaffer, his surviving spouse. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University and received his Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University. Floyd worked in Administration at Kent State University for several years until his retirement, and served as Chamber of Commerce Director in both Defiance and Ashtabula.
Floyd was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Defiance, and was a former member of East Side Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula. He served as National President of The National Exchange Club from 2008-2009. He was a member of several Exchange Clubs, The Masonic Lodge in Upper Sandusky, and many other organizations.
Floyd had a passion for music, was a choir director, and played the trumpet in the Defiance Community Band. He loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, played trumpet in TBDBITL marching band, attended many games, and enjoyed returning to OSU to march in the Alumni Band. Floyd was a dedicated and tireless public servant within his communities. He always had an interest in educating others and was dedicated to his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family, supporting their education and attending their activities. Floyd will be dearly missed by his family, friends and colleagues.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ann Culver of Defiance, and his children, Andrea (Erik) Johnson and Melissa (Grant) Osborne, all of Apex, North Carolina, and Peter (Trillah) Culver of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren; Samuel Johnson, Madeline Johnson, Jacquelyn Sulin, Kalan Culver-McDonald, Brody Culver, Anya Culver and Ezekiel Culver, his brother David (Teresa) Culver of Westerville, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Wolfe.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Erin Culver for her dedication, love and special care of her Uncle Bud.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church in Defiance, with Pastor Ann Wasson officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.

Floyd was a member of the marching band from 1959 through 1962. He played Trumpet in B-Row.
