Joseph William Goldsbury
April 10, 1925 - November 19, 2015
Joseph W. Goldsbury, 90, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015. He is preceded in death by Mary Lou Goldsbury, his cherished wife of 64 years, and his son-in-law Greg Buckley. He is survived by their daughters, Pamela (Larry) Johnson, Rebecca (Bill) Nisbet, and Barbara Buckley; as well as his brother-in-law, Ronnie (Sherry) Wells, their children and Mike Van Culin. He is also survived by his much loved grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Johnson, Dennis (Liz) Nisbet, Mary Lynn (Bobby) Williams, Joe (Brittany) Van Culin, Jason (Jenny Chaffin) Van Culin, and Jonathan Van Culin and their children, Case, Drew, Kylie, William, Teddy, and Jackson.
Dr. Goldsbury grew up in Sciotoville, Ohio and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from The Ohio State University where he earned his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees in elementary education. During his undergraduate years he was a proud member of The Ohio State University Marching Band.
He taught and was an elementary principal in several Columbus Public Schools and retired as principal of Barrington Elementary School in Upper Arlington. He also served as an assistant professor in the School of Education at Kent State University.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to The Inn at Olentangy Trail and Kindred at Home Hospice of Marion, Ohio for their compassionate care through the final days of Joe's life. A private family memorial service will be held for both Mary Lou and Joe at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Ohio Cremation Memorial Society/Rodman-Snyder Memorial Center.
Joe was a member of the marching band from 1946 through 1948. He played trombonium.
