Lana Jolley Henkel
October 28, 1964 - February 6, 2021
Lana Jolley Henkel, 56, of Boiling Springs, North Carolina passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Wendover Hospice House. Born in Boiling Springs on October 28, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Lansford and Cothenia Jolley. A graduate of Crest High School, Lana received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University and a Master of Arts from The Ohio State University. A life-long educator, Lana was a retired band director from Burns Middle and Burns High Schools.
Lana could play all the band instruments, but her major instrument was clarinet. Lana was devoted to her music. She was a teacher and mentor throughout her 31 year career as a band director. She was an active member of her community, which included serving as the handbell director of Boiling Springs Baptist Church and music minister at Lattimore Baptist Church.
She loved going to North Myrtle Beach with her family every summer. She loved to lay out in the sun, feel the gentle breeze, and listen to the waves crashing on the shore.
Lana is preceded in death by her father, Lansford Jolley and her mother, Cothenia Jolley. She is survived by her husband of 31 and a half years, Russell William Henkel, and her sons, Jeremy William Henkel and Jonathan Thomas Henkel. She also is survived by her father-in-law, Russell Malcolm Henkel and mother-in-law, Janet Ann Henkel. She has two brothers-in-law, Jeff Henkel (Brandy Daley), and deceased Chris Henkel. She has an Uncle James Hoyt Hamrick and three cousins, Danny Lee (Jane Lee), Terry Lee (Tammy Lee), and Marshal Lee. She also has several nieces and nephews.
The family is forever grateful for the exceptional care provided by the medical professionals from Wendover Hospice House, the Shelby Cancer Center, and several other doctors and nurses.
The services will be held at Lattimore Baptist Church with the Pastor Buddy Morehead officiating. The visitation will be on February 11, 2021 at 1:30 pm and the funeral will be afterwards at 3 pm. Graveside service will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. There will be public celebration of life ceremony at a safer date and time.

Lana was a member of the marching band in 1987 and 1988. She was a manager on the audio-visual student staff.
