Michael Davis Holden

April 3, 1942 - July 17, 2024

Michael Davis Holden passed away on July 17, 2024 at the age of 82. Mike was born on April 3, 1942 in Zanesville, Ohio to Thomas James, (TJ), and Marjorie Davis. His elder brother and sister named him. He graduated from New Lexington High School in 1960. While there he won the Ohio Junior Championship golf tournament. He enjoyed playing and later watching golf. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a business degree in Real Estate in 1965. While there, he proudly marched in the Ohio State Marching Band, playing many bass clef instruments.

Mike was in the United States Navy from 1966 through 1969. He was damage control officer on the USS Francis Marion, LPA 249. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia he met and married the love of his life, Patsy Monahan. They were looking forward to their 56th anniversary this fall.

Mike joined his brother, John, in the residential real estate business in Columbus, Ohio, in 1969. They branched out into commercial real estate which became Mike's career. Mike was transferred to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1978 and moved to Houston in 1979, purchasing the perfect family home, where they still reside, without Patsy ever seeing it.

Mike was in a devastating auto accident in 1985 and sustained a severe head injury. He fought back valiantly and was able to run in many marathons and triathlons and return to work for the Eckerd Drug Company. After a severe brain bleed in 2022 he continued his battle all while maintaining his sense of humor and quick wit.

Mike and Patsy were blessed with triplets, Megan, Morgan, and Jason in 1972. Mike was so proud and enjoyed telling anyone who would listen their birth times and weights. When they swam, he was the announcer for the Trailwood Village swim team. He was active in his church, serving as usher, even from his walker. He was a member of the Wesley Sunday School and Old Dads Bible study group. He especially enjoyed Sudoku, working the Jumble puzzle, and watching sports on television. He was a loving dad, outstanding husband, and friend of many.

Mike is survived by his wife, Patsy, his children, Megan Brissenden and husband, Reynolds, Morgan Holden, Jason Holden and wife, Michele, grandchildren Lexie and Ethan Brissenden, Hudson and Hayden Holden, his brother John Holden and wife, Debbie of Richmond, Virginia, his sister, Margot Holmquist of Easley, South Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.

For those desiring, the family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations to be made in Mike's memory to Kingwood Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6989, Kingwood, TX 77325 or kingwoodmethodist.org/give/

Mike was a member of the marching band from 1960 through 1964. He played both Tenor Horn and Trombonium.
