Larry Thomas Lorenzen

Larry T. Larry T. Lorenzen, 68, of Northwood, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 in The Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 15, 1942 to Thomas and Virginia (Jones) Lorenzen. On November 4, 1972, he married Darlene Bless.
Larry attended The Ohio State University where he played trumpet in the marching band and later graduated from the University of Toledo with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
He began his career with Champion Spark Plug as a cost accountant until 1979. For over 40 years, Larry operated his own accounting practice and was an accounting instructor at Owens Community College for over 20 years.
Larry served as a member of Northwood City Council for 13 years and was charter president of the Northwood Jaycees. He was a longtime member of First St. John Lutheran Church where he served as treasurer and chairman while serving as an elder. He was a member of the Zenobia Shrine where he served as treasurer and member of the Highlanders. Larry was a member of Phoenix Lodge #123 F&AM where he obtained the rank of 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. Recently, he served on the Lutheran Services Housing Board. In addition, Larry served as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor.
Larry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darlene; children, Gwynne (Dan Bibish), Janelle (Aaron Teitlebaum), and Joshua; mother, Virginia (Al) Ford; sister, Ginger (Larry) Albanese; and brother, Jim (Carol) Lorenzen. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Lorenzen.
Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 pm with Phoenix Lodge services at 7:00 pm. Memorial services will be conducted Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00 am in First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Street, Toledo. Memorials may be directed to First St. John Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.
Larry was a member of the marching band in 1962. He played Trumpet.
