Marvin “Lynn” Lovell

December 10, 1943 - March 19, 2021

Marvin “Lynn” Lovell, age 77 of Marion, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 in his home after battling cancer.

On December 10, 1943, Lynn was born to Marvin Paul and Maxine M. (Benge) Lovell in Marion. In 1961, he graduated from Marion Harding High School, previously attending Grand Prairie Elementary and Ridgedale High School. He then graduated from The Ohio State University in 1965 with a major in Music Education. During his time at Ohio State, Lynn was an accomplished trumpet player and played with the Ohio State Marching band. He went on to teach music at many schools including Johnstown Monroe, Elyria City, Firelands, Ridegedale, and Ashland College. During this time Marvin was a professional photographer and owned Lovell photography of Elyria, Vermillion, and lastly Marion. After teaching, he worked for the Small Business Administration.

Lynn married his high school sweetheart, Susan Kay (Corhrun) Lovell of Morral.

He was an active cyclist and was a charter member of the Heart of Ohio Tailwinds Bicycle Club. He was also active in ham radio and served in various positions, including Vice President and President, of the Marion Amateur Radio Club. Through his service as the Marion County Emergency Coordinator for the Amateur Radio Emergency Services, he became a Special Deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s office.

He is survived by his devoted wife Susan Kay Lovell; children: Brian (Kathy) Lovell, Amy Lovell-Bergstrom; grandchildren: Samuel Darling, Kirsten Bergstrom, Aaron Lovell, Andrew Lovell; brother Gary (Linda) Lovell; and nieces and nephews.

The family will be holding private services with a memorial service observed at a later date.

Lynn was a member of the marching band from 1962 through 1964. He played trumpet.
