Stephen Joseph Polizzi

November 8, 1959 - January 2, 2014

Stephen Joseph Polizzi, 54, of Basehor, died Thursday, January 2, 2014. He was born November 8, 1959, in Rochester, New York, the son of Joseph and Nancy (Roffe) Polizzi.

Steve was a loving husband to his wife of 27 years and a caring father and grandpa.

Steve is survived by his wife, Hellen; two daughters, Amber Downing and Kristen Polizzi; son-in-law, Victor Downing; grandson, Trey Downing; parents; sister, Laura (Tim) Anderson; and two brothers, Dave (Linda) Polizzi and Matt (Shannon) Polizzi. Steve was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Steve retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving 24 years in the U.S. Army. He was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University ...GO Buckeyes!

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home in Leavenworth, Kansas. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 am Wednesday, January 8, at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. There will be a reception after the burial. All services are open to friends and family.

Memorial contributions in Steve’s name can be made to the Rock of Ages Church in Leavenworth.

Steve was a member of the marching band in 1978. He played Baritone.
