Conrad Albert Weidman
January 26, 1930 - November 2, 2019
Conrad A. “Connie” Weidman, age 89, a lifetime resident of Marysville, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Memorial Hospital.
He retired as vice-president from Huntington Bank in Marysville where he worked for 25 years. A 1948 graduate of Marysville High School, he was a milk deliveryman following graduation for Elm’s Dairy which was located on South Maple Street. During high school, he played in the marching band and went on to The Ohio State University where he played baritone in “The Best Damn Band In The Land,” the OSU marching band.
Connie was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church all his life where he served in helping with church finances and sang in the choir. He was a member of the Windsor and Community Seniors, the Windsor Singers, a longtime member of the Marysville Lions Club and was a member of Palestine Lodge No. 158 F & AM. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and would read the Marysville Journal-Tribune from cover to cover every day. One who never knew a stranger, he liked carrying on a hearty conversation.
A loving and devoted husband and father, he was so very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Connie was born January 26, 1930 in Marysville to the late Conrad W. and Inez Browning Weidman. He was also preceded in death in 2001 by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Jenny Weidman, whom he married February 3, 1950; a brother-in-law, Robert J. Grisham; and a loving family friend, Donna Crawford. He is survived by a son, Matthew (Cherie) Weidman of Delaware; a daughter, Libby Weidman Shaw of Jacksonville, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Cole Weidman and Emily Weidman, both of Delaware, Craig (Mandy) Shaw of Charlotte, North Carolina and Aaron (Raelynn) Shaw of Jacksonville, North Carolina; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Shaw of Charlotte, North Carolina; his sister, Elizabeth Grisham of Marysville; three nieces, JoBeth Grisham of Columbus, JoAnne Grisham Weller of Marysville and Beverly Burroughts of Gardnerville, Nevada; a nephew, Greg Rupright of Hollywood, Florida; and several great nieces and other relatives.
The family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Underwood Funeral Home. Masonic services will follow the calling hours. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Barry Scott will officiate and burial will be beside his wife at Oakdale Cemetery. Conrad was a member of the marching band in 1948 and 1949. He played Baritone.
